Staffordshire History Centre
Unfortunately I am writing to tell you that last week I received the notification from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) that our Round 2 application for the Staffordshire History Centre project has been unsuccessful.
As part of our initial feedback we were told that there were thirty bids in this round and that our project was one of nine which had been ranked as a high priority. Of these nine projects only six received Round 2 funding. The quality of the consultation which we had completed for the project and the range of activities which took place during the development phase was recognised.
As you can imagine we are all very disappointed with this news we felt we had compiled a strong bid, we had secured all of the match funding and the HLF assessment visit went well. However it was made clear to us that because of a diminishing funding pot this would be an extremely tough funding round.
We will receive a formal feedback letter from HLF and they have offered to meet the team at a later date and we will take up this opportunity.
We will be looking at our plans to ensure that we deliver the very best service to the people of Staffordshire.
I wanted to take this opportunity to make you aware of the decision, before it is covered in the local press – and to thank you for your support.
